I have been hearing so many people say this make up is so easy and works great. So I finally laid down the cash and bought some today. I was at the mall and stopped into Sephora. I have oily skin and have acne......that is a whole vent in and of it's self. I mean seriously...I almost 35 and have more zits than my 14 year old stepsons!! So I'm going to give the Bare Escentuals I shot. I will check back in a few days and give a full review!! Sam

I don't know anything about these. What's the concept? Is it meant to be oil controlling? Or is it similar to Bare Minerals (or whatever that powder one is called)?

Yep, Bare Escentuals is made by Bare Minerals (or vice versa).
I use it every day. When I first tried it, I hated it (I thought it looked cakey) but then I watched the video and realized WHY it looked cakey.
Now, it looks fine and stays all day.
Sam, I also have zits like crazy--that's why I started using this make-up. Anyway, I hope you like it--if not, send it to me, ROFL!

I just bought the same stuff by Loreal. I've been wanting to try it. Makeup never stays on my face..too oily.
Sam - Can't wait to hear your review.
Melissa -- what is the secret for putting it on and looking right.

Well, the secret is to tap the brush after dipping into the powder and then to BUFF BUFF BUFF when putting it on your face.
If you don't tap, you'll have too much and if you don't buff, it will look cakey (all lessons I learned after trying it without watching the video) and the video tells you the same thing.
Personally, it took me a couple tries. I'm not very make-upish, I prefer to not wear anything. But with my new job, it really wasn't an option and I wanted something light but something to cover well so my mom got this for me as a gift. And, I don't know if it's just me or what, but I swear, I break out more when I don't put it on now....say, if I wear no make-up on Saturday, my face will be broken out on Sunday......That's weird, huh?

Yeah I've been totally intrigued by those infomercials. But I have totally combination skin (oily and dry). Do you think it would work on my dry skin? Seems like powder just makes it look MORE dry. It sucks because my face is also shiny. Very annoying.

Thanks, Mel for the tips on application. That is helping!
Adria - I've found that it works pretty well on my combination skin. It also seems to stay on better. Make-up tends to slide off my face!

Has anyone tried the pure minerals? It's another one like this but made by someone else I guess. Victoria Principle pushes it LOL! They have sample kits for $30 you can try. One of dd's moms told me about it and said she liked it better than the Bare Essentials. I keep debating on it or the Bare Essentials. Even with just regular pressed powder I feel cakey and dry. I have super dry skin any more. It used to be combination but lately I swear I could smother it in oil and it would just soak it all in K~

Well I'm finally sitting down to right my official review. I didn't like it. It always looked like I had on a ton of make up. Now I will say that I did not watch the video....might want to do that, LOL. But I did tap the brush...maybe not the right way though. If I wore a white shirt with a collar I had the make up ring around it where it touched my face. I did not like that at all. My face is oily and it just looked like the make sat right on top of all the oil and was ready to slide off as soon a something touched it. UGH.

I'm using a bronzer of their that my friend gave me, I really like it, but I'm using it OVER my MAC Stuio Fix, which I doubt I will ever give up.

Sam, if you hate it, I'll take it. Just tell me the shipping fees if you want and what colors you have. mountainous5390@yahoo.com Melissa

I got this for Christmas and haven't tried it yet! I need to find time to watch the video or I will screw it up I'm sure!
I have VERY dry skin and kind of blotchy (esp. in summer), so I hope it works for me!

I used Bare Escentuals for 5 years and I liked it the only problem I had was that I was never perfectly color matched until last year that I bega using a similar product by the company that I represent and I found the perfect match for my skin and I do not have to retouch my face at all. For those that are wanting to start using this type of products they are great, but you should also consider using a cleansing, toner, serum, day cream moisturizer and night cream to maintain your face in great shape, prior to put any type of makeup on.

I'm so intrigued by this. It seems like I've been hearing about it everywhere. Next time I'm at Sephora or Ulta I'm going to check it out.
