So - just wondering what everyone does for Easter. DH's family has never been into much (a LITTLE candy) - my family goes all out (like a mini-x-mas) Amy

Mini xmas here! I love Easter. We always got a new outfit for church and then an Easter basket with candy and usually one toy. I do the same but tend to go overboard. It is just so much fun!!!
We also have a big Easter egg hunt that Sunday and we go to a church egg hunt too.
Fun stuff... BA

Easter Sunday itself is what it's all about for us. We normally get new Easter dresses, the girls dye their eggs Easter Eve (no Easter bunny for us) so I can put their baskets together while they sleep. They awake to baskets filled with their eggs, jelly beans, malted milk eggs, 1 choc bunny, peeps and 1 or 2 Ressee (sp?) eggs. I also normally put a small toy or book in the basket. Then it's off to church for the egg hunt, the service and lunch with family.

You know we haven't really established a good tradition yet so I'd love to hear some good ideas. Dh and I always just used to go to church (late 11 a.m. service) and then out to brunch. I think we'd like to keep that but add in stuff for the kids. We haven't done the Easter Bunny thing yet but probably should this year.
Growing up we always colored Easter eggs and were told that the EB would hide those eggs. We all had small baskets where we'd get some candy, maybe a small toy and a pair of socks or something, lol. I liked that.
I hate all the candy though. I don't let them have it every day so it hangs around for a long time. I finally threw the remaining Christmas candy away and now we have a ton of Valentine's candy. I'd like to do some of the traditional things (jelly beans and Peeps) but don't want to go overboard. Anybody do alternatives or is that just too mean, lol?

Yeah I'd like alternatives to candy too! My kid freaks out with candy in his system and then he will find it if it's hidden in the house and just sit down and eat everything he can find. I hate to do a lot of small little toys though because those just end up in the trash - ya know!
I love the brunch idea. Easter is one week before my due date this year so who knows what we will do.

I give toys instead of candy although my MIL gives enough candy to them for 4 kids Little people has a really cute stocking stuffer type thing. It is a tube with bunny ears on the cap and two little people in it. One is a child in a Easter outfit and the other either a bunny or chick. Very cute.
