I'm flying to Orlando for Spring Break with my kiddos (6 & 3). This is first time either of them have been on a plane and while I'm extremely excited about the adventure - I'm also starting to worry. And the first time I've ever flown with children - usually I'm solo.
I'm only checking 2 bags, and I was thinking of the carseat and booster, but now I'm thinking larger suitcase and carseat. I'm toying with the idea of throwing the booster in a tote bag so the 3 yr old can sit up a little higher.
Any advice on the best way to manage to the luggage situation? Oh, and advice on how to handle a meltdown in mid-air (you know, just in case)?
Thanks! Cindy

We are headed to Orlando in a few weeks too. We got a bag for the carseat through onestepahead. It has straps and wheels. We are planning on collapsing the booster and puttin it in the carseat then sliding them both in the bag. We are hoping they both fit. The least amount of baggage you can take is the best. We are planning on doing laundry while we are down there and buying basic supplies when we get there. Take lots of snacks and small toys for the flight. They can carry their own little backbacks too with stuff to help ease the burden on you. Ours is early so I'm hoping the boys will sleep. XXXX (crossing fingers and toes. )

At that age they should be mostly ok due to the novelty of the airplane. Bring a change of clothes ON the page - my ds got plane sick his first flight as a toddler.... (he never did as a baby). If that happens to you - Benedryl is what Dr. Sears recommends for airsickness If Benedryl makes them sleepy - so it's a good back up if you want to force a nap Another thing that we ALWAYS bring is the Viewmaster. It keeps them entertained during the time that electronics are not ok. Bring a DVD player - on the way back from DC, my 3 year old watched 3 movies (check the battery time on it). Lots of snacks - bring sippy cups because they will give you juice in a regular cup which spills really easily Amy

Oh - I thought of this the other day - I always buy a couple of NEW movies ... you could rent at Blockbuster if you don't want to buy - it keeps them MUCH more entertained than the same old movies they see at home!
