We are thinking of not having a big 1st birthday for my youngest son and taking a big family vacation instead and inviting my mom and brother to go who watch them during the day. I'm thinking of Disney or Disney/Disney Cruise. Any suggestions or recommendations? Any travel discounts? Lois

Lois- We just went to Disney in June. It was a lot of fun and I reccomend it. Even though 1 is young, my dd had a great time interacting with the characters, riding Small World and some other rides (carousel, etc).
Were you thinking Disneyland or Disneyworld? My advice varies based on which park.
Have you looked at Club Meds?

Another option (they have GREAT deals) is to do a Beaches resort if you could find it cheap enough. They do the Sesame Street Characters there, so the kids would love it too!
My 1 year old loves Disney Land - she loves the rides and the characters, so that would be a good option too

Disney Cruises are more expensive than other cruises. You can get some discounts online. I've looked at www.vacationstogo.com but never bought from them. www.mousesavers.com is a great Disney resource online. BA

My family and I went to Disney this past June. We took our 3 and 4 year old (along with grandparents) and we had a blast. We searched for a year for the best deals, most of which came from mousesavers.com. We lucked out and were able to stay at a time share that a friend had saving us a ton of money! We spent the most money on food. We were not as disciplined as we had hoped to be with eating in the room. I will tell you the best money we spent happened to be on a stroller purchased at the park. We paid for the entire week and picked up our stroller at each park as we hopped. The park hopper pass was also a money saver for us. We did the 5 day park hopper pass. Make sure to call in advance to reserve dinner with characters. I booked ours 6 months out and still got our second choice. Good luck and I know you will have a lot fun with whatever you choose. jamye

OMG. I love mousesavers. We got a great deal on a rental car - minivan for $199 for the whole week. It also has a ton of tips. I'm getting very excited about our trip.
