Lois We drive everywhere when we go on vacation. A couple things that I do to help is 1. Go to the Dollar Store and buy little things and wrap them up. When the kids start to get antsy I pull out a gift. They have so much fun unwrapping and playing with their new toy. 2. DVD player!!!!!!! 3. As hard as is it try not to have yourself too much on a time schedule. We have found that when they start to get whiney and just can't seem to sit there anymore we stop either at McDonalds that has a play area or a rest stop where they can get out and RUN!!! We've had many little adventures on the way to our destination. Oh by the way can I go with you? Kat

We use the same things as Kat. We always try to take a picnic so that we can get out of the car and let the kids play.
If you have a car ride that is longer than 8 hours I think you should break it up in two days. We pick a hotel with a pool and stop early enough to have dinner at our normal time and then let the kids play/swim. Then it's bed time as usual.
That's my other suggestion. Try to keep them on their normal schedules. This will make your destination so much happier. LOL
