Advice: Fly a lot before they turn 2, they are free if they sit on your lap and they can have a seat if the plane is not full!
Always take a stroller, strap them in so you know they can't get away as you run through the airport!
Sit near the front so you can get off quicker at your destination!
Crayons, books, Golfish and raisins are lifesavers on airplanes!
Bottles and sippy cups help when taking off and landing to "pop" their ears (the sucking does the trick).
I have found that traveling with my little ones is never as bad as I anticipate!

Can I add to your very good ideas?
Bring a portable DVD player - and if you don't own one....borrow one! They are a godsend!
Spoken from a mom who has a child who has flown cross-country now 18 times, before his 3rd birthday!!
Though I hear many airlines are starting to offer "On Demand" tv at each seat. My husband was just on a Air Canada flight that offered that - he checked it out and said they had some good childrens programs. So hopefully in the next few years, we can expect to have that ammenity on some flights (since all the other ammenties like FOOD and pillows have gone by the wayside)!

My tricks are to make sure you have a change of clothes. Two flights ago my 2 year old threw up from motion sickness and my little one had a blow out on the same flight (and of course, the seat belt sign was on, so she sat on my lap for 20 minutes with the blow out - gross!). Change diapers before you get on in hopes to not do it in the air.
SB - what kind of headphones do you use, we've tried the DVD, and my son just can't concentrate, it's like he can't hear good with the headphones.
One of my friends brings play dough to restauarants, I was thinking that could be a good idea too.

I just bought the cheapest $10 headphones I could find (we're on our third pair as we've left two other pairs on the flight!) - I just make him let me wear them until I can properly adjust the volume, and then he happily wears them.

I used all these great tips on my flight this weekend. It went great. My son enjoyed the flight, the DVD player, snacks, books and I used the change of clothes when he soaked through his diaper on the flight!!! Great tips ladies!
