I recently got this carrier when my 18 month old, 26lb baby girl became too heavy to carry for long periods in a hip carrier (we had a peanut shell before this that was wonderful for 18 months) This is an Onbuhimo. It's like a traditional Mei Tai carrier, but much less fabric, which I love. It has shoulder straps and rings on the bottom, so less tying. The carrier doesn't wrap around the entire baby, so it's great for summer and great for larger babies/toddlers who aren't crazy about being very enclosed. Most of the pictures I have tried to take of myself in it have not been flattering, so I'm just posting the link! This is a distributor, and they sell lots of other carriers too! store.attachedtobaby.com/products/FreeHand-Onbuhimo-Carrier.aspx

Can you wear it on front or side or is it only for back? I really want to get a carrier. Mine worked so well in FL but it won't be long before he's too heavy for the one I have. I can't do back because a lot of time's I go out by myself and just can't see getting him on my back alone.

You can wear it front or back. I don't think a hip carry would work though. I didn't think I could do back, but honestly, it's not hard. I get her on my back in about 20 seconds by myself. We practiced about 5 times at home before I was really comfortable doing it, but it's far less daunting than it looks. Here's a picture of dd in it ~
